mm (up to 10x10 m)See illustration 2 to 4 and text below for Pergo laminate flooring installation. The floor should not be glued or fixed to the subfloor or walls in any way. With climatic changes the flooring will expand and contract very slightly. This means that a expansion space of: 8-10 mm (up to 20x20 m) should be left at walls, thresholds, pipes and other fixed objects. An expansion profile must be used in: Door openings Angled rooms Corners in corridors If the floor is longer or wider than 20 m The subfloor must be: Dry (max 60% RH, at 18° C) Even (2 mm/1 m) Clean. Pergo flooring can be installed over vinyl, linoleum, wood and ceramic tiles. Remove textile carpets and underlay before installing. On concrete floors - including those with vinyl tiles installed – begin by placing a 0.2 mm polyethylene film with an overlap of 200 mm. (Organic floor coverings and materials should be removed if installed over a concrete subfloor). For timber floors, check that any loose floorboards are securely fixed then proceed with the underlay. Check that the planks are undamaged before installing. Pergo Flooring Maintenance For normal cleaning, use a vacuum cleaner without the beater bar, and when necessary a damp mop with some mild detergent. Never use any vapour cleaning equipment. Never sand, wax or polish the flooring. Stubborn stains may be removed with acetone. To help protect the floor, a doormat should be laid inside all external doorway's. Pergo Laminate Flooring Gluefree installation section 2 See illustration 5-19 and text below. Generally,
Pergo laminate flooring will look best if it is installed
parallel to the length of the room or so that in-coming
light falls along the length of the planks. Start the Pergo
Flooring installation in the left-hand corner of the room with
the groove (female) facing the wall. Use spacers to achieve
the correct expansion gap. Assemble the Pergo laminate
flooring panels together in the first row so that they
form a straight line. Check that the distance between
the first Pergo
Flooring row and the wall is correct (5-8mm/8-10mm).
If the distance is too wide or too narrow, trace the
contour of the wall on to the panels in the first row
by using a spacer. Remove and cut the panels according
to the marked line. After cutting the last plank in the
first row, use the off-cut to start the second row. Ensure
that the end joints are spaced more than 200 mm apart
in consecutive rows.
The panels can be assembled in two ways: Tapped in method Fold down method ![]() ![]() Pergo Flooring fold down method. Assemble the panel's by locating the groove into the tongue of the installed panel at an angle of approximately 40° and gently pushing the panel down to lock the joint. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Install the Pergo flooring panels row by row. To calculate the correct width of the last row, place the panel on top of the last but one row. Mark the distance with a piece of floor. Cut according to the marked line. |
